I believe in taking art out of the museum and into the functional world, so that art becomes something students use everyday. It is an empowering act to create, especially when creating something that can be used. I have worked with a variety of populations and specialize in adaptive teaching techniques that take into account diverse needs and abilities.  I love teaching process-driven art: fiber arts, book arts, paper marbling and printmaking. My projects emphasize combining traditional practices, such as embroidery and weaving with non-traditional mixed media components, encouraging students to design and carry out multi-step projects, without being stifled by self-judgment.
